Located in the heart of Europe, Maramures is a land of wooden churches, legendary treasures, breathtaking landscapes and ancient traditions. In Maramures remained intact the culture and traditional peasant life of the past. The History of Maramures is transmitted through the wooden churches. UNESCO has included eight of these churches monuments of world cultural heritage.


Day 1: Arrival in Bucuresti
Arrival to Bucharest. Transfer to a 4* hotel, centrally located.
 
Day 2 : Bucuresti - Cluj
Breakfast. Departure to Cluj Napoca - one of the historical capitals of Transylvania. Walk in the historical center. Dinner and accommodation

Day 3 : Departure to Moisei – Botiza
Breakfast. City tour in Cluj. After lunch, departure to Moisei. Visit the "Heroes" Monument and Moisei Monastery, built in 1600. Arrival to Botiza. Dinner and accommodation

Day 4: Vaser Valley - Salistea de Sus – Botiza
Breakfast. Mocanita boarding - a small train pulled by steam locomotive - for a superb ride on Vaser Valley. On the way, stop for lunch picnic. Continue journey by coach to visit Salistea de Sus where can be visited the wooden church (1736) and then, back to Botiza. Dinner and accommodation

Day 5 : Poienile Izei – Ieud - Rozavlea – Calinesti - Barsana
Breakfast. Visit the wooden church Botiza (1796), Budesti Josani (1643) - included on the UNESCO list, Izei Meadows (1632) - included on the UNESCO list. Lunch at Botiza. Then visit wooden churches leud - included on the UNESCO list and Bogdan Voda. Lunch on the way. Then visit churches Rozavlea, Calinesti, Barsana Monastery - built in 1761 and included on the UNESCO list.
Return to Botiza. Dinner and accomodation.

Day 6 : Sapanta – Tara Oasului – Cluj Napoca
Breakfast. Departure to Sapanta. Visit the Merry Cemetery. Departure to Oas - one of the most original and beautiful ethno-folk areas in Romania, attested since 1270. Lunch on the way.
Arrival to Cluj Napoca. Dinner and accommodation

Day 7 : Sibiu (European Capital of Culture in 2007) - Bucuresti
Breakfast. Departure to Bucharest. Stop at Sibiu, important medieval city - European Capital of Culture in 2007. Arrival at Bucharest. Dinner and accommodation
 
Day 8 : Bucuresti
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.

Fortresses and fortified churches

Transylvanian villages with fortified churches provides a lively cultural landscape of southern Transylvania. These villages are characterized by a pattern of settlement and organization of farms, preserved since the Middle Ages. Localities are dominated by their fortified churches, which illustrate building periods XIII century until the sixteenth century. Once the number of 300, the fortified churches have played a role both religious and military role for more than five centuries. At nearly 150 buildings in the early twenty-first century, the fortified churches in Transylvania form one of the densest system of medieval fortifications in Europe very well kept.

Day 1: Arrival in Bucuresti
Arrival to Bucharest. Transfer to a 4* hotel, centrally located.

Day 2 : Sinaia – Rasnov – Bran
Breakfast. Departure on Prahova Valley, to Sinaia mountain resort, where we visit : Sinaia Monastery - dubbed the 'Cathedral of the Carpathians', located in a wonderful natural environment, dating from the seventeenth century and represents the historical identity of the city, the first building in this area and Peles Castle - the summer residence of the kings of Romania, one of the most important historic edifices in Romania, with unique character with its historic and artistic value, one of the most important monuments of this kind in Eastern Europe second half of the nineteenth century.
After lunch,leaving for the medieval fortress Rasnov - one of the best preserved peasant fortress in Transylvania, built in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries by inhabitants of the settlement of the same name, with the main goal to defend against attacks Tartars.
Arrival to Bran . Dinner and accommodation

Day 3 : Bran – Brasov – Bran
Breakfast. Visit Bran Castle - historical and architectural monument built by the Teutonic Knights between 1211-1225, strengthened and expanded in 1427. Then, go to Brasov, the most important medieval city in Transylvania and visit the medieval fortress city, the Black Church - symbol of the city- the largest evangelical church in Transylvania, built around 1380, in the Gothic style and walk in the historical center, lunch and shopping. Return to Bran. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 4 : Prejmer - Harman – Sanpetru – Viscri – Saschiz – Sighisoara
Breakfast. Departure to visit the peasant fortresses and fortified churches, founded during the Teutonic domination and fortified over time, is part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage, Prejmer, Harman and Sanpetru.
Continue to the heart of Transylvania, to see the wonderful land that fascinated even Prince Charles of Great Britain.
Miclosoara, Viscri, Saschiz
Visit the saxon fortifcations Viscri and Saschiz. Viscri, is one of the most spectacular fortified churches, besides being one of the six UNESCO World Heritage listed. Peculiarities of this settlement attracted the attention and goodwill Mihai Eminescu Trust, a foundation under the patronage of Great Britain Crown Prince –Prince Charles himself who renovated the church and some houses in the village. Is where Prince Charles is often taking holidays in the area.
Arrival at Sighisoara. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 5 : Sighisoara – Biertan – Sighisoara
Breakfast. Visit the medieval fortress. Sighiṣoara is considered to be the most beautiful and well preserved inhabited citadel in Europe, with authentic medieval architecture. In Eastern Europe, Sighiṣoara is one of the few fortified towns that are still inhabited .The houses inside Sighiṣoara Citadel show the main features of a craftsmen's town. However, there are some houses that belonged to the former patriciate, like the Venetian House and the House with Antlers.
After lunch, departure to Biertan.Biertan is one of the most important Saxon villages with fortified churches in Transylvania, having been on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, since 1993. It was the see of the Lutheran Evangelical Bishop in Transylvania between 1572 and 1867.
Return to Sighisoara. Dinner and accommodation

Day 6 : Alba Iulia – Sibiu (European Capital of Culture in 2007
Breakfast. Departure to Alba Iulia - the capital of Transylvania between 1541 and 1711 and the first capital of Greater Romania. Visit Reunification Cathedral of Alba Iulia Fortress, the Roman Catholic Cathedral and Bathyaneum Library, founded in 1798, which houses ancient works, since 1561, the early years of the occurrence pattern
After lunch, departure to Sibiu - one of the most important and flourishing cities of Transylvania, one of the main centers of German colonists settled in the area. Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture in 2007, together with Luxembourg.
Along the way, we stop at Sibiel - Icons on glass Museum . Departure to Sibiu. Lunch

Day 7 : Bucuresti – through Fagaras Mountains
Breakfast. Departure to Fagaras and crossing the mountain on Transfagarasan. This spectacular road climbs to 2,034 metres altitude . After lunch departure to Bucharest.

Day 8 : Bucuresti
Breakfast. Bucharest city tour. Transfer to the airport.

Bucovina - Country of beech, offers travelers views of rare beauty and great churches founded by princes and landowners, whose paintings are a delight. After the year 1530 15-16 centuries monasteries were exterior decorated with famous frescoes with unique colors such as: blue Voronet, red of Humor, green from the Sucevita and yellow from the Moldovita. Frescoes, architecture, beautiful landscapes and popular artistic creation contributed to distinction award "Golden Apple" Bucovina by the International Federation of Journalists and Writers of Tourism and heritage of Bucovina joining UNESCO catalog - "Great monuments of the world."



Day 1: Arrival in Bucuresti
Arrival to Bucharest. Transfer to a 4* hotel, centrally located.

Day 2 : Bucuresti – Monasteries Agapia – Varatec -Gura Humorului
Breakfast. Departure Suceava. On the way, visit Neamt Fortress, one of the monuments of exceptional value in Romania, was meant to defend the western border of Moldova and pasages in the Carpathian Mountains and monasteries Agapia, Varatec, Neamt Mountains. Arrival to Gura Humorului . Dinner and accommodation.

Day 3: Suceava - Monasteries Humor - Voronet
Breakfast. Visit to Fortress of Suceava, built in the 14th century, is part of the fortification system constructed in Moldova at the end of the 14th century, when the Ottoman threat occurrence. Visit to the Monastery of St. John the New (1514) - houses the relics of Saint John the New.
After lunch, go to Gura Humorului where we visit Voronet Monastery (1488) - one of the most valuable foundations of Moldavian prince Stephen the Great, built in only four months and a half and Humor Monastery (1530). Dinner and accommodation.

Day 4 : Ciocanesti - Monasteries Moldovita – Sucevita
Breakfast. Departure to Ciocanesti – a very special village, where old traditions in this part of the country are perfectly preserved . Then, visit Monasteries of Moldovita (1532) and Sucevita (1586). After lunch visit Marginea where is an old famous black pottery center.
Return to Gura Humorului. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 5 : Radauti - Monasteries Dragomirna and Putna
Breakfast. Departure to Arbore Monastery (1502) and Dragomirna Monastery (1602-1609) - with a special architectural value, due to the rigors of geometric refined and unusual proportions. Then go to Radauti and visit Bogdana Monastery (1359), built by the founder of the Moldovan feudal state - the first stone church in Moldova, preserved in its original form, unaltered to this day. After lunch, visit to Putna Monastery (1466) – build by the Moldavian ruler Stephen the Great and Chilia lui Daniil Sihastru, a famous confessor who advised on Stephen the Great to build Putna and Voronet Monasteries. Return to Gura Humorului.

Day 6 : Humor - Brasov
Breakfast. Departure to Brasov. On the way, visit to Sf. Ana Lake. Lunch.
Arrival to Brasov. Dinner and accommodation

Day 7: Departure to Bucuresti
Breakfast. City tour of Brasov, the most important medieval city. After lunch, departure to Bucharest.

Day 8 : Bucuresti
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport.

Ziua I: Plecare din Bucuresti, Parcul Tineretului–Colegiul National Gh. Sincai la orele 06:00 pe ruta Ruse –Veliko Tarnovo–Capitan Andreevo (Bulgaria)–Kapikule (Turcia)–Edirne (Adrianopol)–traversarea cu ferry-boat-ul a Stramtorii Dardanele. Cazare la Canakkale.
Ziua a II-a: Mic dejun. Se viziteaza Troia, Pergamonul si Biserica Sf. Ioan (Curtea Rosie), tur panoramic al Izmirului (Smyrna). Cazare si cina la Kusadasi.
Ziua a III-a: Mic dejun. Se viziteaza Casa Maicii Domnului, cetatea Efes (biblioteca lui Celsus, marele teatru in care a predicat evanghelia Sf. Apostol Pavel, Biserica Maicii Domnului –in care s-a tinut Sinodul al III-lea ecumenic in anul 431), Colina Ayasuluk cu Cetatea Bizantina si mormantul Sfantului Ioan Evanghelistul), templul zeitei Artemis (una dintre cele 7 minuni ale lumii antice). Cazare si cina la Kusadasi.
Ziua a IV-a: Mic dejun. Plecare cu vaporul in insula greceasca Patmos pentru vizitarea Manastirii Chora, construita de Christodulos in sec. XI si a Grotei Apocalipsei in care Sf. Apostol Ioan Evanghelistul a scris ultima carte sfanta a Noului Testament – Apocalipsa. Cazare si cina la Kusadasi.
Ziua a V-a: Mic dejun. Plecare la Pamukkale. Se viziteaza ruinele Cetatii Laodiceea, terasele calcaroase cu apa termala (fenomen unic in lume), Cetatea Hierapolis cu Martirionul ridicat in memoria Sf. Apostol Filip in locul in care acesta a fost omorat. Cazare si cina la Pamukkale.
Ziua a VI-a: Mic dejun. Plecare Pamukkale–Denizli–Demre (se viziteaza biserica construita de Imparatul Iustinian –a adapostit mormantul Sf. Nicolae si cetatea Mira Lyciei unde Sf. Nicolae a fost episcop). Cina si cazare Antalya sau imprejurimi.
Ziua a VII-a: Mic dejun. Se trece prin Konya, fostul Iconium (oprire la Muzeul Mevlana –Confreria Dervisilor rotitori)– Aksaray–Nevsehir (fosta Nyssa). Cazare si cina in Capadocia la Urgup sal in imprejurimi.
Ziua a VIII-a: Mic dejun. Se viziteaza: Cavusin (Biserica imparatului Nechifor Fokas), Pasa Bagi (Chilia Sfantului Simion), orasul subteran Kaymakli, asezamintele monahale din Valea Goreme (sec. XI-XII), Valea Derbent. Optional plimbare cu balonul. Cazare si cina in Capadocia la Urgup sau in imprejurimi.
Ziua a IX-a: Mic dejun. Tur panoramic al oraşul Ankara–fosta Ancyra, crestinata de Sf. Apostol Pavel (se
viziteaza mausoleul si muzeul lui Mustafa Kemal Ataturk – intrare libera). Cazare la Istanbul.
Ziua a X-a: Mic dejun. Vizitarea Catedralei Sf. Sofia, construita de imparatul Iustinian în 537, Palatul Scufundat (rezervorul de apa care alimenta palatul imparatilor bizantini) Moscheea Albastra, Topkapi- fostul palat al sultanilor si actualul Muzeu National al Turciei (adaposteste exponate unice: sabia lui David, mana dreapta a Sfantului Ioan Botezatorul, sabia lui Stefan cel Mare). Timp liber pentru Marele Bazar. Cazare la Istanbul.
Ziua a XI-a: Mic dejun. Turul orasului bizantin: sediul Patriarhiei Ecumenice, Biserica Vlaherne, Muzeul Manastirii Chora, Manastirea Izvorul Tamaduirii, Fortareata Yedikule, zidurile vechiului oras Constantinopol, Biserica Sfintei Mucenite Paraschevi (ctitoria lui Constantin Brâncoveanu). Seara, optional, croaziera pe Bosfor. Cazare la Istanbul.
Ziua a XII-a: Mic dejun. Plecare spre tara. Popas in Epivata (locul de nastere al Sf. Cuvioase Parascheva) si la Edirne unde se viziteaza moscheea Selimiye (capodopera arhitectului Sinan). Sosire la Bucuresti in functie de formalitatile vamale.

NOTA :

* Autoritatile vamale isi rezerva dreptul de a refuza intrarea pe teritoriul statului a oricarei persoane care nu prezinta suficienta incredere.
